Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and More Movies Coming to Crunchyroll in September 2022
Crunchyroll continues to expand its movie collection with classics and critically acclaimed works. Since August, the popular streaming service has continued to add new anime movies every week and will continue into October.
From Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, here’s the scoop on movies arriving on Crunchyroll in September!
1. Afro Samurai: Resurrection
The 2009 film sequel to the miniseries, Afro Samurai, the number 1 headband bearer has avenged his father and finds a sense of peace. However, a deadly woman from his past forces him to go back into the game. Sio won’t falter when it comes to avenging the people who were thrown around by Afro. She tells him that Rokutaro will be resurrected for revenge.
2. ODDTAXI in the Woods
ODDTAXI in the Woods is the film adaptation of the series, Odd Taxi. Directed by Baku Kinoshita the film is about the Walrus taxi driver, Odokawa who lives a lonely life. Although, his life begins to drastically change when he comes across a college student, an idol group, and other people in the midst of a crime with a missing girl.
3. Psycho-Pass Sinners of the System: Case 1-3
The film trilogy focuses on various characters that appear in the popular anime series. Case. 1 Crime and Punishment follows the reinforcer Nobuchika Ginoza and inspector Mika Shimotsuki. The second film, Case. 2 First Guardian, centers around Tomomi Masaoka and Teppei Sugo and their encounter with one another.
The final film, Case. 3 Beyond the Pale of Vengence, focuses on Shinya Kogami and his life in Eastern countries while training a girl desperate for revenge.
4. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, follows Makoto Konno, a typical high school student not too excited about school. One particular morning, everything seems to go wrong for her including waking up late and flunking a pop quiz. When she collides with a speeding train, she is suddenly transported back in time.
5. Sword of the Stranger
The classic tale directed by Masahiro Ando, Sword of the Stranger is a hidden masterpiece that follows young Kotaro and his dog. When they run into No Name, Kotaro forms a strong bond when his dog becomes attacked by poison. However, the Chinese assassins are bound to create chaos in Kotaro’s and No Name’s life.
6. Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic
One of the most known series in the anime world is making its return with the iconic characters, Ciel and Sebastian! When rumors begin to spread about a society bringing people back from the dead, the duo set out to investigate on a luxurious voyage. Once they encounter the mysterious society, Sebastian and Ciel must act fast when a corpse suddenly attacks.
7. Jujutsu Kaisen 0
One of the most anticipated movie releases for Crunchyroll, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the prequel to the popular manga series. Yuta Okkotsu enrolls in Jujutsu High School under the watchful eye of Satoru Gojo after experiencing a curse set on his childhood friend.
8. The Free! Animated Movies
High Speed! -Free! Starting Days dives into the past of Haru and Makoto as they discover the meaning behind teamwork and friendship while making a splash. The plot is based on the second volume of the High Speed! light novels.
Free! -Timeless Medley- The Bond is another movie coming to Crunchyroll that will dive into the characters we all know and love. Haru and Rin are swimming toward their futures even if it may seem scary.
Free! -Timeless Medley- The Promise continues Haru and Rin’s journey toward the future. With the support of their friends, anything is possible.
Free! -Road to the World- The Dream focuses on the challenges that Haru and Makoto face when entering into college. Ikuya is unable to let go of the fact that their swimming team came to an end back in middle school. He’s unwilling to step down when it comes to competition, especially when Haru is involved.
9. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Trilogy
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation summarizes Britannia conquering Japan and renaming it Area 11. Following Japan’s invasion, the movie soon to be released on Crunchyroll will serve as a recap for episodes 1-17 of the anime.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II – Transgression is a compilation of episodes from the first film and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. The events covered in the film are from episode 18 through episode 16 of R2.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III – Glorification covers episodes from R2, particularly the events in episode 17 and beyond.
10. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection
The mecha fantasy movie coming to Crunchyroll is about an alternate world that finally found peace after Lelouch vi Brittanica fell. But the peace is soon threatened by a terrorist attack. Will Lelouch’s legacy find its end here?
