This upcoming season, there are well-known and internationally recognized names, as well as Kansas City locals and fashion week newcomers showcasing their work on the runway. Each one has an incredible story of how their collections came to be. Read below for the scoop on a few we’re very excited about!

Any Old Iron – Andrew Clancey
Any Old Iron made their debut on the Kansas City runway last F/W ’19 season. Andrew Clancey creates jaw-dropping, head-turning styles that grab everyone’s attention the second one of his pieces enters a room. Originally from England, he opened up his first store in New York City and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee to expand his brand. Any Old Iron has been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga, The Jonas Brothers, Beyonce, Ozzy Osbourne, Taylor Swift, and Elton John.
Nakota Style – Tonya Pesch
Tonya, a Kansas City native, gets her inspiration from Western lifestyle and the feeling of being a free-spirited gypsy soul. She got her formal training from Johnson County Community College and later went on to finish her degree at Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She focuses on depicting that free-spirited flow in all of her collections and loves working with leather. This will be her first debut on the Kansas City Fashion Week runway.
Georgina Herrera
Another Kansas City-based brand, Georgina Herrera creates jewelry designed to reflect her Mexican heritage. She uses her culture to fuse today’s trends with her roots, and the results are truly stunning. Each piece is made to be a statement, whether it’s worn in the office or to a gala. Georgina Herrera Designs has been showcased several times in Kansas City, but has also been a part of Miami Swim Week, Paris Fashion Week, and will make her New York City Fashion Week debut this upcoming fall.
Topping Designs – Duane Topping
Duane Topping retired from the United States Military in 2012, and has used clothing design to cope with his PTSD. He has since used his brand to inspire women and those who don’t want to be labeled to be bold, adventurous, and powerful. The Phoenix is a common theme in his clothes, as his rebirth into fashion from the military is similar to a Phoenix rising from the ashes. He has been published in Vogue, Pump Magazine, and Shuba, and has been featured in fashion weeks across the country.
Maang – Yasi Fayal
Yasi Fayal’s collection focuses heavily on her multicultural experiences. She studied in Milan, Italy at Brera Fine Arts Academy, and uses her Middle Eastern background as inspiration for her designs. Yasi is also trained in mineral engineering. The geometric and mathematical patterns that appear frequently in her garments are a reflection of that schooling.
What should you wear?

The shows at Kansas City Fashion Week do not have a particular dress code, but you should absolutely be ready to dress to impress. It’s a good time to experiment with new fashions and style trends that you might not have been brave enough to try just yet. Many attendees dress in patterned blazers, floor-length gowns, with plenty of statement pieces abound.
