Make Your Own Dog Food Recipe

Maybe your dog is a super picky eater like mine or maybe you want your dog to eat a raw and nutritious diet. Either way, this recipe is packed with nutrients and meats essential to your pup.

DIY Dog Food Recipe

This recipe includes several proteins, healthy fats, and veggies for your dog to stay healthy, happy, and full. Coconut oil helps with digestion and provides your dog with a healthy and shiny coat while peas are a great source of vitamin B and carrots are high in fiber.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 slices turkey bacon
  • 1/4 bag chopped carrots and peas (frozen )
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 cup rice (white )
  • 1/2 tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Take the rice and boil it on medium-high with water in a pot. Stir occasionally through-out the cooking process.
  2. Take a medium sized pan and put the stove on medium-high.
  3. Add the coconut oil.
  4. While the coconut oil is melting, cut up the turkey bacon into small slices.
  5. Add in the ground beef while the oil is melting. Stir occasionally
  6. Once the ground beef has turned a slight brown, add in the turkey and salt. Stir occasionally.
  7. After 5 minutes, throw in the vegetables and put on low heat. Continue cooking until the frozen veggies are fully cooked.
  8. Take the pot of rice and empty out the water. Place the rice in a bowl with a sealable lid. Mix in the meats/veggies into the bowl.
  9. Wait for the food to cool down and serve.

If you want your rice to be separated and not mushy, soak it overnight in a bowl of water. Empty out the water in the morning and use fresh water to boil it in.

Depending on the size of your dog, these meals will last about 5-6 days. I usually use this recipe as a topper and provide my dog with Authority grain free dog food as well. You can buy the product at Petsmart.
