5 Movie Sequels to Look Out for in 2020 and 2021

Warning: there may be spoilers for the first movies.

With much of the world having been in quarantine these last few months, many scheduled movies have been forced to postpone their releases. Because of this, you might have forgotten about some great movie sequels that are set to come out within the next few years. Here is a list of 5 well-known movie sequels that are scheduled to come out in 2020 or 2021.

A Quiet Place Part II (September 4, 2020)

The predecessor to this sequel came out in 2018, starring The Office star John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The first movie was set in a futuristic world where mysterious monsters hunt humanity based on sound. Following the Abbott family as they tried to live as quietly as possible, this horror movie captivated audiences everywhere. The movie ended with the family losing one of their own and learning how to destroy the monstrous creatures, so it will be exciting to see how this ending will drive the storyline for the sequel.

Wonder Woman 1984 (October 2, 2020)

Although this movie seems like a sequel to the Wonder Woman movie from 2017, don’t be fooled. The director of Wonder Woman 1984 states this is NOT a sequel; it is simply a second installment to the Wonder Woman franchise. Sequel or not, it follows many of the same characters despite being set decades after the first movie. As such, it is included in this list. Given that Chris Pines‘ character tragically died in the first movie, it will interesting to see how he returns!

Legally Blonde 3 (Unknown)

17 years after Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde was met with wild success, a third movie is finally in the works! Reese Witherspoon confirmed in 2018 that she was reprising her iconic role of Harvard lawyer Elle Woods for a third installment of this hit franchise. The movie was supposed to begin in early 2020. However, with the suspension of most productions, it is unknown when this movie will come out. However, fingers are crossed that it’s soon!

Spider-Man 3 (November 5, 2021)

Marvel movies are always widely anticipated, and Spider-Man 3 is no exception! The third movie in Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise is slated to release about 2 years after the second movie. It’s likely that the movie will deal with the fallout from Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) being outed as Spider-Man in the post-credits of Far From Home. As of now, there is no official name or storyline yet, but knowing Marvel, the storyline will most definitely be explosive!

Black Widow (November 6, 2020)

Black Widow is finally getting her own movie! A prequel to Marvel’s epic Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow will explore Natasha Romanoff’s (played by Scarlet Johansson) backstory. It will also give the character a proper sendoff. The movie was originally supposed to release in May, but the coronavirus has delayed it to a November release date.
