4 Natural Skincare Treatments
When it comes to skin problems such as blemishes, dry skin, or itchiness, many of us are quick to run to the pharmacy for expensive potions that promise big results. But how often have you forked over half your paycheck for a so-called miracle cream, only to be disappointed with the results? If this sounds like your life, then maybe it’s time to try some natural skincare treatments for your skin and truly know what you are putting on your face! For this reason, here are four natural skincare treatments you can make at home:
1. Coconut and Sugar Scrub
First, wash your face with a face scrub to get rid of dirt and dead skin cells in order to begin your skincare routine. The benefits of an exfoliating face scrub include unclogging your pores, preventing acne, and evening your skin tone. Also by using a natural skincare treatment as a coconut and sugar face scrub, it can function as a face wash, exfoliator, makeup remover, moisturizer and get rid of dead skin cells.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1/2 cup of coconut oil
Note: Add more sugar for a more coarse texture. Do not heat up coconut oil to avoid melting the sugar.
Mix ingredients together in a bowl and with your fingers slightly warm up the oil (to help your pores open up more) before gently rubbing it in a circular motion on your face. Exfoliate two to three times a week for normal to combination skin and once a week for sensitive skin. Avoid your eyes.
2. Oatmeal and Honey Mask
Add a soothing mask to your skincare routine with this oatmeal and honey mask! Oats are anti-inflammatory and cleansing agents perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. Honey has a great antibacterial and antioxidant properties that help achieve glowing skin while fighting off acne.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons of ground oats
1 tablespoon of hot water
1 tablespoon of honey
First, grind the oatmeal to have a flour-like texture (you can use a blender) and then mix it with hot water. Allow the mixture to cool down and then add honey. Once the mixture is ready gently apply to fresh clean face with a circular motion. Finally, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Lastly, using cool water gently wash it off. Avoid getting it near your eyes and nose.

3. Rice Milk Toner
One of the main benefits of using rice milk toner is that it is a natural anti-aging toner. Rice milk helps remove impurities such as blackheads, acne, and excessive facial oil that leads to shine. Also, rice milk is a hypoallergenic toner that can soothe irritated skin! Therefore rice milk is also is great for sensitive skin.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of organic rice
1 cup of preferably distilled water
strainer or colander
Note: Mixture can last between one or two weeks if stored in a suitable place.
Not only is it easy to make this toner, but there are also two ways you can make your very own natural rice milk toner to add to your skincare routine. One is to boil the rice with water, strain it, and then allow it too cool off. While on the other hand, you can just add rice and water to a jar and let it sit overnight. Then strain it. Once you have the rice milk all you need to do is apply it to your skin. Finally, to apply the toner simply moisten a cotton ball or pad and gently apply to your face!
4. Green Tea and Potato Under Eye Mask
Another natural skin care treatment you can make at home is a green tea and potato under-eye mask. The benefits of green tea are that it has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce irritation as well as swelling. Green tea also has an antibacterial agent that helps treat acne and unclog your pores. Potatoes, as well as green tea, get rid of dark circles and puffiness.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of green tea
Thin slices of a potato (as many as you want)
In order to make your own eye mask filled with caffeine and anti-aging magic, all you need are green tea and potatoes! Pour hot water over your loose leaf green tea (avoid tea with extra flavors) and allow the water to cool. Once the water is cool pour the water into a jar. Then thinly slice your potato and add them to your tea. Lastly, put the jar in the fridge and leave it for one day. Finally, after your potato slices have had a chance to absorb the green tea place the slices under your eyes for about 15 minutes. You can store your potato slices in the fridge for two to three days.
With this in mind don’t forget to moisturize, drink water, avoid harsh chemicals, and always wear sunscreen!
