Netgear Nighthawk Review from Best Buy

You can probably imagine as a blogger and someone who truly enjoys technology, I use the internet a lot.  I was recently able to completely transform my experience using the Netgear Nighthawk.  When I first received my device I was in awe over it.  Yep, total tech nerd over here.  I had a bit of traveling and some craziness going on so I wasn’t able to set it up for a week after receiving it…talk about making me crazy! I was so anxious to give it a try.

 I was pretty excited to plug it in and get started using it.  The first thing I did was download the Netgear Genie, I used the iOS app, but if there is also an Android app available.   You can use it to manage, monitor and control your network from your compatible computer, tablet or smartphone.

The number one thing I noticed and really benefit from is the increased wi-fi speed.  When I am working from home, I love having my netflix going and my cell phone near by as I am researching and typing away.  It wouldn’t be uncommon for you to catch me with five devices using the internet at once.  Proving an increased Wi-Fi speed results in optimal use for buffer-free streaming (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and gaming (Xbox, Steam), and lag-free browsing.

Plus, the Netgear Nighthawk allows you to connect an array of devices, old and new, without sacrificing performance. These routers automatically prioritize devices by wi-fi bandwith needs, or you can use the Network Map on the Genie app to manually prioritize.

It also allows you to have complete control.  You can setup parental controls to block access to specific sites on certain devices. Yep, keep an eye on those kiddos even when you’re not sitting right next to them.  Plus you can restrict access by time (ex. Shutting off certain devices from wi-fi during dinner or bed times). Or set up a dedicated guest network, allowing friends easy access to your wi-fi while safeguarding the files on your devices.

I also love how easy it makes it for me to share files. I collaborate and work with people constantly.  Photos, videos, etc. can take forever to upload and find a site to share them.  The Netgear Nighthawk has a ReadySHARE USB Port.  It’s so easy to use, simply plug in a USB drive to your router’s port and safely share all files on the drive (can include movies, pictures, music, etc.) across all the devices on your network.

In all honesty, when it comes to technology I only have time to use products that seriously make my life easier.  The Netgear Nighthawk does just that. I can’t get over how much quicker it makes my wi-fi and how easy it is to share photos and videos.  I am all about a connected home and this product does just that.  It connects my devices on a speedy network.  I love working with technology that creates efficient, smart results!
