Being on the set of a TV show is honestly one of the coolest experiences.  Its always amazing to see the work that goes into creating these 30-60 minute shows we watch every week.  I recently had the chance to take a set visit of The Rookie.  I love a good action show mixed with a little love and drama so of course I was already hooked on The Rookie. If you haven’t watched it yet, here’s a little background.

Cast of The Rookie

While we were on set we got to meet a few of the actors on set of The Rookie. Yes, we were shocked that we got to meet Nathan Fillion.  He plays Police Officer, John Nolan and is the oldest rookie at the LAPD.  He’s the main character taking a second chance at his dreams.  And yes, he is just as amazing as he was in Castle.

We got to meet Richard T. Jones as well.  He is Police Sergeant II Wade Grey.  He was so fun and down to earth.  He had a fun time snapping selfies with us.  In the show he is against Nolan (Fillion) because he feels that he is just having a midlife crisis and that being a police officer isn’t his true calling.  But, on set they are all happy and supportive of each other.

Afton Williamson was also on set filming the day we came for our set visit.  She was seriously the sweetest. She took selfies with everyone and told us the secret to the perfect selfie is the angel.  She plays Police Officer III Talia Bishop.  In the show she is a newly promoted training officer whose first assignment is Nolan.  They have a supportive relationship on the show and on set.

Top top off our experience of meeting the cast we got to not only meet Mercedes Mason who plays Captain Zoe Andersen, but she was nice enough to walk us around the set and give us a tour.  On the Rookie, Mason play Nolan’s confident and irreverent commanding officer.  She was a lot of fun, joking around with us and even taking photos in her on set office.

Other Cast Members

As you know when watching the show every cast member is not in every scene, so here’s the scoop on the rest of the cast that sadly I didn’t get selfies with. 😉

Alyssa Diaz plays Police Officer III Angela Lopez: An LAPD Training Officer on the cusp of making detective-trainee, a situation which gets threatened when she is assigned to West.

Which brings us to Titus Makin who plays Police Officer I Jackson West: An eager rookie officer and the son of the commander of the LAPD’s Internal Affairs Division.  He’s often feeling the need to proof himself and sometimes scared to do so.

Melissa O’Neil plays Police Officer I Lucy Chen.  She’s my favorite in the show so I was bummed to not get to meet her.  She is a rookie cop, who struggles with a domineering training officer and has a secret relationship with Nolan.

Then there is Eric Winter as Police Officer III Tim Bradford: An overbearing training officer. He is assigned to Chen as a boot and gives her a hard time. He has a soon-to-be ex-wife who is a drug addict. Oh, and he is really good looking. 😉 

The Set of The Rookie

The craziest thing about set visits is how small everything seems in person.  While watching the show everything looks like it would be filmed on these huge lots, but that is the magic of television.  Here are some of the photos I took on set of The Rookie.
