Philips Hue Go Light Product Review

Take your light with you on the go! This Hue Go light is small enough for easy travel, smart enough to be controlled with Alexa (if you purchase the accessories), and bright enough to be used bedside. The Hue light is small, discrete, and elegant enough to add an extra flair to any home.

What does the Hue Go light do?

The hue light is exactly what you think it is. A light. While this one may seem like another expensive boring light, this one has many features you may enjoy. This light has 7 preset colors. Two of these being a white light, and the other 5 are fun colors. You turn the light on by pressing the button on the bottom. When you continue to press the button, after turning it on, you can access the other preset light colors. If you wanted to set your own fun color, you can double press and hold the button to go through a colorful light sequence. Once you have reached your desired color, you release the button on the bottom.

If you are through using the Hue Go, you can easily turn it into standby mode by holding the button for 2 seconds. After 2 hours of standby mode, the light will turn itself off to save the battery life. If you wanted to skip this step completely, you can hold the button for about 10 seconds to turn the light off. You will know it is off when the light blinks a blue light twice.

If you have the light plugged in, you will see the full light power. However, if you are using the battery, you will only see about 40% of the light power to get more use of battery life. The full charge time is about 1 1/2 hours. I thought this was a long period of time to charge to only have 3 hours of use.

What I Liked

The first thing that caught my eye about this light was that it was small and gave off a good amount of light. There aren’t a lot of buttons for the user to figure out, making it very easy to use and understand. If you turn other lights off and just have the Hue Go light on, you could have some fun with taking cool pictures, just hanging out, reading or other things. If you wanted to spend some extra money, the Hue Go light could do a lot more! You could turn it on and off with Alexa, or control the colors with your phone.

What I Didn’t Like

Initially, I thought that this light was pretty expensive for being just a light. But, as I did more research, I learned that there are so many features to access when you buy additional accessories. The light is already $80. The Hue Go also has a battery life of 3 hours, which I thought wasn’t a long time to last without a power source, and during this 3 hours, it was my understanding that you are only getting about 40% of the light power. Meaning, that it isn’t shining as bright as it could with a constant power source.

All in all, I think that this is a cool light with a lot of pretty colors. Especially when you use it in a dark room. It is small, light, and easy to take with you! And this could be a great thing to have on camping trips!
