Reasons to Ship Devi and Ben From “Never Have I Ever”
At first, I thought the Netflix series Never Have I Ever would follow the stereotypical premise of an unpopular girl, Devi, trying to get with the most popular guy in school, Paxton. However, the relationship between Devi and her arch-nemesis Ben develops in each episode. While I am first and foremost, “Team Devi,” I can’t get over how cute she and Ben are. Before reading our top reasons to ship Devi and Ben, watch season one on Netflix now!

1. Ben Gets Devi to Malibu
Devi realizes that she should be at the beach with her mother when she spreads her father’s ashes. So she doesn’t miss it, Ben vows to get her there on time. Ben gets her to the beach even with his slow driving, and Devi has a touching moment with her mother down on the shore. We’re glad Ben was there for Devi when she needed him the most.

2. The “Rivals to Lovers” Plotline Is So Entertaining
Devi and Ben have been enemies since the first-grade. They both are very competitive, determined to be the academic superior in their school. We love watching them disrupt the class with their entertaining banter. As they become closer, we start to suspect that they’re destined to be more than rivals.
3. They Are Intellectual Equals
Even though Devi and Paxton get along, they don’t have a lot in common. In contrast, the interactions between Devi and Ben feel more natural because they share more similarities. For example, they both value school and love a challenge. They’re kindred spirits, making the connection they have hard for them to deny as they get to know one another better.

4. They Make Each Other Smile
When Devi’s mother invites Ben over for dinner out of pity, Ben decides not to tell her mom about the chaos Devi caused during the Model U.N. trip. As a result, the two of them share smiles across the dinner table. Also, when Devi sends Ben money through text so he “never has to accept food from a pedo again,” the grin on his face was incandescent.

5. Devi Brings Ben A Gift
Devi feels awkward when she arrives at Ben’s birthday party because she’s still fighting with her friends that are there. However, Ben is thrilled that she came. While they hang out in his home cinema, Devi gives Ben a gift. He is stunned because no one else got him anything. We were happy to see that Ben sincerely appreciated Devi’s thoughtfulness.

6. Ben Let’s Devi Stay At His House
After a yelling match with her mother about moving to India, Devi needs a place to crash. With everyone else mad at her, she surprisingly turns to Ben for help. Ben then asks his parents to let her stay in their Doobie Brother’s themed guest room. It felt a bit domestic when they ate breakfast together and talked about their problems.

7. They Care About One Another
Ben is worried about Devi when she plans to emancipate herself. He knows that the only people who can make Devi see reason are her friends. So, he meets with Eleanor and Fabiola and convinces them to bury the hatchet. Would your nemesis do something like this for you? Probably not. But by the last episode, they don’t seem to be enemies anymore.

8. They Make A Great Team
Devi breaks the pact to never do the same extracurricular as Ben when she goes on the Model U.N. trip. They throw a party, and the alliance they form is as powerful as North and South Korea teaming up, giving them nuclear weapons and BTS. Even though their partnership doesn’t go according to plan, this episode proves that they make a great team when they set their rivalry aside.

9. They Are Honest with Each Other
During the Ben-centered episode, Devi is honest with him about what happened (or more like what didn’t happen) with Paxton. Ben relates to her awkward social plunders and admits that he got cat-fished by a guy from his Rick and Morty fan group. They laugh together, and it warmed our hearts to see both of them open up to each other.

10. THEY KISSED AND IT WAS AMAZING
Devi, after an emotional goodbye to her father, discovers that Ben waited for her in the car. Ben tells her that he waited to make sure she was okay. We all gasped when Devi leaned over and kissed him, and we squealed when he smiled and kissed her back. What a way to end on a cliffhanger!

I want Devi to grow and find happiness without a guy. But after a little character development, I hope she pursues her feelings for Ben. I can’t wait to see what happens with Devi and Ben and the rest of the characters in season two of Never Have I Ever! Hopefully, for Devi’s sake, there’ll be no more coyotes.
