In December of 2019, John Mulaney dropped his latest smash hit, John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch. The comedy special, featuring the Emmy-nominated comedian and a team of hilarious children, produced music and skits that approached children’s issues. Think Mr. Roger’s with a flair of Saturday Night Live satire. Overall, the Sack Lunch Bunch got rave reviews.

Now, Mulaney hits fans with yet another surprise. The Sack Lunch Bunch will be back again! Twice! The news hit earlier this week that two sequels will premiere on Comedy Central. There is little word on the exact contents of the sequels, however, we do know that one will be a holiday special featuring the entire original cast.

What We Know

As a fan of The Sack Lunch Bunch and John Mulaney in general, plenty of questions still remain. Will there be a new cast of kiddos? Will any celebrities (i.e. Jake Gyllenhaal, Andre de Shields, etc) return for the sequels? Will new celebrities play a part? Mulaney definitely leaves audiences wondering what ground-breaking comedy he has in store for us next.

Either way, the anticipation is certainly high. For now, we’ll just be listening to “Grandma’s Boyfriend Paul” on repeat. And maybe also rewatch Mulaney’s three stand-up specials on Netflix while we’re at it. Let us know what you’re most excited about for The Sack Lunch Bunch sequels!
