College can be tough, especially for student-athletes. Balancing schoolwork and athletics is a huge responsibility.
For Ray McElrathbey, in addition to school and football, he has to raise his little brother Fahmarr. Based on true events, audiences will enjoy this emotional story about the true meaning of family.
"Safety" Cast

Jay Reeves plays Ray McElrathbey, the film's main character. Ray is a dedicated athlete and student, but when he faces family troubles, he struggles to balance all of his responsibilities. He has a kind heart and he is resilient in the face of adversity.
Thaddeus J. Mixson plays Fahmarr McElrathbey, Ray's younger brother. He is a fun-loving little boy who loves his family. Sometimes he feels like a burden on his brother, but Ray helps him understand the importance of sticking together.
Hunter Sansone plays Daniel, Ray's college roommate. Daniel is a true friend and is always willing to help out Ray and Fahmarr.
Corinne Foxx plays Kaycee, a student at Clemson and Ray's love interest. She really cares for Ray and wants to help him and Fahmarr as much as she can.

Luke Tennie plays Solomon, one of Ray's teammates. Solomon is one of the first people who know that Fahmarr is living on campus, and he helps take care of him.
Matthew Glave plays Coach Tommy Bowden, the Clemson football coach. He is a tough coach, but he genuinely cares for each of his players and treats them as family.
"Safety" Premise

"Safety" tells the dramatic and heartwarming story of Ray McElrathbey. Ray is a freshman at Clemson University and he plays safety for their football team. While trying to balance being a varsity athlete and keeping up with all of his schoolwork, he suddenly finds himself with another responsibility: raising his younger brother.
When Ray's spot on the football team and school scholarship are in jeopardy, he has to work extra hard to keep everything that he loves. In an empowering story about determination and community, "Safety" is sure to tug at audiences' heart strings.
Why You Will Love "Safety"

This film deals with serious issues like addiction and separated families, but it addresses these ideas carefully. The seriousness of the movie is also balanced out by the the comedy.
Thaddeus J. Mixson as Fahmarr McElrathbey is the perfect fun-loving little brother anyone could ask for. A lot of physical comedy comes from when Ray is hiding Fahmarr in the dorm. Trying to keep a middle-schooler a secret from the dorm RA and an entire football team requires Ray and Fahmarr to get really creative.
Also, while the movie is not all about football, sports fans will still enjoy watching Ray and the Clemson tigers train hard and go on to victory!
Final Thoughts
"Safety" is a truly inspiring story. Not only will you find yourself cheering for Ray, but the entire Clemson community will warm your heart. Even if you are not a huge football fan, this movie is so much more than sports.
"Safety" highlights the true power that a community has when they come together to make a change. It is an excellent story about family, community, and a young man determined to do what's right.
