The Scoop On Caila Quinn

Neon lights flicker under the calm hush of the Ohio summer breeze, as an unsuspecting Minnesotan takes a woman out for a drink. They chat, but across the room another woman full of exotic splendor catches his eye. She was gorgeous and something told him that he needed to go over to her to say hello. After talking for a bit, the woman noticed the girl that he was on a date with and asked, “Who’s that woman? She’s staring at you.” To which he replied, “Oh, that’s just my sister.” The woman suggested that he go back to be with his ‘sister’ but he was so afraid that if he returned to his date, he would never see this intriguing, dancing woman again. So she gave him her number and he knew that it was love at first sight.

This is the story of how Caila Quinn’s parents met. This completely explains why she’s such a romantic. We all got to know Caila’s bubbly personality on The Bachelor and we were ecstatic when she made it to the final 3. We even got to bear witness to her parent’s love when we saw her hometown date in Hudson, Ohio. Bachelor Ben and Caila visited the toy factory where her dad works and they made every heart in America flutter when they designed and built a toy house from scratch. They ended the date with her parents where they ate traditional Filipino food that her mother prepared. Even though her love story with Ben didn’t turn into a happily ever after, life after The Bachelor has treated her well.

Q & A with Caila Quinn

How would you describe yourself as a kid?

I was kind of a tomboy. I loved exploring and trying new things so I would often climb trees and scuff my knees. I played with the boys and played competitive soccer but I was just a happy kid.

Who was your childhood crush?

I guess you could say he was always the popular guy in theater. He was very charismatic and was always center stage. He knew how to make people laugh and smile and that was very attractive to me. I always dreamt that I would be the leading lady to his Romeo, of sorts.

What is your family like?

My family is small in numbers but big in heart. I have one little brother who is 2 years younger than me and my parents have always taught us to chase our dreams and to find something we’re passionate about. I come from 2 different diverse backgrounds, my dad is Caucasian from Minnesota and my mom is Filipino. They’ve always been very supportive but I really am a romantic and I get that from my parents.

Did your parents inspire you to go on The Bachelor?

They were supportive of me going on The Bachelor but it was definitely my own doing. I believe in romance because of my parents so I think that how I was raised made it feel magical and like it was something that could work.

Do you have any advice for people who are thinking about auditioning for The Bachelor?

Make sure you’re doing it because you are ready for love because that’s the most authentic way to portray yourself. If you’re not ready for love then you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Always remember that life is too short and to live with gratitude. If you remember those 2 things, you’ll take advantage of every moment.

What is one thing you think every woman should try at least once in her life?

Travel alone. For at least a week. It gives you this inner confidence that you can do anything on your own and that you aren’t dependent on others for happiness. Having that inner strength will remind you that you can do anything.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

Okay this is funny but I want to stay in a tree house. You can do it in South America or Europe. But I want to sleepover in a tree house that overlooks a canopy and feel like Tarzan and Jane. I think that would be so cool.

What are the last 3 items you bought?

That would be a membership to Runway Unlimited, Trader Joe’s groceries—and 95% of my groceries were turkey bacon because I’m obsessed with turkey bacon, and probably dinner because I treated a gentleman to a date—and I really like him!

Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?

My dream dinner party would have Jennifer Lopez, Natalie Portman, and Sharleen Joynt because I just love her as a person.

What quote do you live by?

“Life is too short to wait to fall in love.”

What’s your beauty secret?

I love Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. I do that once a week. Even with long hair it makes your ends feel not dead. It just makes my hair feel fresh. I also use Not Your Mother’s dry finishing spray after I blow dry my hair to help defrizz and then I curl it with a 1 inch Conair curling iron. I also use Biolage shampoo, which smells amazing!

What do you like to watch on TV?

I like House of Cards and Game of Thrones. I know I’m a closet nerd. But my favorite show of all-time is Parenthood.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love painting. I paint watercolor and oil paint in my free time. But a silly hobby I have is taking random Craigslist jobs. Sometimes people have one-time Craigslist jobs and for fun I’ll search it and try it out. Once I sold GPS systems at a biker show. Another time I was a coat check on New Years Eve just because I didn’t want to go out. There was another job that I wanted to do where this guy was looking for an assistant to make a 20 foot paper mache dog float for a festival. It’s a random hobby but it’s awesome.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

My brother spent 9 months in Africa and for my birthday he sent me a postcard. It was hand-written and he’s never given me thoughtful gift before so it was really meaningful. I hadn’t seen him for a while so it was very thoughtful of him to think of me.

How do you settle your nerves on a date?

I take a deep breath. Just take a deep breath and look in their eyes. Sometimes my mind wanders, and I just need to remember to be present.

Do you have any advice for single ladies reading this post?

My only advice for single ladies is to be happy in yourself before you start dating. Be happy for the life that you’ve created on your own!
