I took it and got “Outdoor Mo,” which is perfect for me because many of my favorite things to do in Kansas City are outside. Check out this list of fun places you must check out in Kansas City.
Liberty Memorial
If you are looking for the best view of downtown Kansas City, Liberty Memorial is the spot for you. The views of the Liberty Memorial, also known as the National WWI Museum and Memorial, are breathtaking.
Whether you want to enjoy an amazing sunset with an incredible view or stop by the National WWI Museum, the Liberty Memorial has a lot to offer all in one place. Walking to the top of the memorial, you will see an outlook of the city as a whole, which is something you cannot miss — especially at night when the whole city is lit up.
This is also a great spot to lace up your tennis shoes and walk around the downtown area.
Country Club Plaza
There’s no better area to get out and enjoy the town than Country Club Plaza! Often referred to as “the Plaza” by locals, it is an outdoor shopping area filled with the best shops, restaurants, bakeries and places to grab a drink and enjoy the KC scenery.
Shops range from locally-owned Charlie Hustle to national retailers such as Kate Spade New York. There are 15 blocks to explore and find whatever your heart desires. As your stroll through the Spanish-inspired buildings of the Plaza, you’ll quickly understand why Kansas City is known as the City of Fountains.
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
The Nelson-Atkins Museum is known for its neoclassical architecture and its extensive collection of Asian art. There are many cool things to see in this museum — it could take you hours to make it through the whole thing.
There are about 34,500 pieces in this museum. No matter what time of year you visit, the collections are stunning, and the art will keep you interested for hours. There are also multiple sculptures and things to see outside, such as the largest shuttlecock in the world, and great scenery.
Whether you explore the inside or the outside, you’ll find some of the most amazing art in the world.
Powell Gardens
Get a glimpse of how pretty the Midwest can be at Powell Gardens with 970 acres of lush meadows. Stroll through the gardens and gaze at the impeccable architecture. They even host special events, so clear your calendar!
Powell Gardens is an absolutely stunning spot to visit. This is a destination you will want to spend your time walking around to check out new blooms and a peaceful scenery. During the holidays, you can also check out their amazing lights set up.
KC Wine Works
Kansas City has one of the richest grape-growing and winemaking histories in the U.S. With more than 100 local wineries and vineyards in the metro area, Kansas City is the perfect go-to location for wine downtime. One of the must-visit places is KC Wine Works.
Located in the Kansas City Crossroads area, you get the best of downtown views and great wine. KC Wine Works often offers fun events. During the warmer months you can enjoy wine and small bites on their outdoor patio, as well.
Sporting Events
Depending on which season you are visiting, it is always fun to stop and see a baseball game or a football game! Kansas City fans are dedicated to their teams, and you will feel the pride at both Kansas City Chiefs and Royals games.
If you are catching a Royals game at Kauffman Stadium, you will notice many fans cheering on the boys in blue and the love for the game. The stadium includes a Craft & Draft bar that is sponsored by the Boulevard Brewing Company.
At Arrowhead Stadium, you better be ready, as Kansas City is known for being the loudest stadium in the world! Make sure to catch a game, and you will understand why!
Kansas City Barbeque
Kansas City has the “savory” taste you can’t get anywhere else! It’s a city known for its barbeque for a very good reason — it is the best. From your casual barbeque gas station to a sit-down, white tablecloth dinner, there are so many different restaurants to try.
On the other hand, Q39 has recently become very popular in the area. Some of their popular items include their Burnt End Burger (my favorite) and Southern Pride sandwich! You can’t go wrong with any of their items, seriously!
Many restaurants offer outdoor seating. Or switch things up and take your order to go and enjoy it at a local park.
