SPOILER: Paul Rudd Comments on the Ending Credits of “Ant-Man and the Wasp”
My interview with Ant-Man and the Wasp stars contained several spoilers about the fate of the characters. But now that the movie is in theaters, we can fill you in on what all Marvel fans have been waiting for.
Scott’s Fate and the Quantum Realm
While the Quantum Realm plays a large role in the plot of Ant-Man and the Wasp, it also holds the secret of what happens to Scott Lang at the end of Avengers: Infinity War as well.
“All I can say is I so want this to remain as secretive as possible for as long as possible. I was giddy, in a way, imagining this movie, which is funny and ends on this kind of uplifting amazing moment. Then you’re going to see a few names. And it is this shocking kind of punch to the gut. I was imagining reactions to it and still am.” – Paul Rudd
The cat is finally out of the bag on this one. As Scott enters the Quantum Realm in the mid-credit scene, his companions are among those who become victims of Thanos’ snap, leaving Scott alone floating through the Quantum Realm. With Ant-Man’s role in the future of Infinity War in question, we know that Scott has a large task ahead of him.
Michael Douglas refused to comment on the mid-credit scene. Hank’s future within the MCU is in question because of the mid-credit scene, but fans would love to see him make a return.
“If I open my mouth, a blowgun, it’s a marvel blowgun” – Michael Douglas
While Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly knew what was coming, Laurence Fishburn was caught off guard when he finally saw the mid-credit scene.
“I’ll be honest I only saw it for the first time two nights ago and it was in this small little screening room with Evangeline, Hannah, Laurence Fishburn, and couple other people and Laurence didn’t know and he just went OH. Even Evangeline and I, who knew it was coming,
were like wow this is really cool. It was really exciting. It was like knowing a secret that was really gonna land when people see it.” – Paul Rudd
With Scott stuck in the Quantum Realm and half the Avengers turned to dust, Marvel has a large task ahead of them by the time the next Avengers film comes out. What did you think of the mid-credit scene? Let me know in the comments.
