Stylish Layers for Summer Heat with a Statement Jacket
When we think of summer, what comes to most of our minds is tank tops, high-waisted shorts and pastel summer dresses. We typically don’t think to layer our looks in hear of being too warm. With these helpful tips you can be both fashionable and comfortable in the summer heat. From statement jackets to tailored vests, the key to being prepared for the heat of summer is knowing the versatility of each piece.
One summer must have is the biker jacket. I’m not talking about the thick leather jacket women wear on the back of their husband’s Harley Davidson motorcycle, rather a fun printed biker jacket. Because summer is so vibrant, pick a biker jacket that is floral printed. This will make the masculine cut feel more feminine. Because biker jackets can be so warm, simple drape the jacket over your shoulders. This look would be great with a solid color blouse, skinny denim and summer wedges.
We’ve seen the bomber jackets on countless runways paired with feminine chic pieces, now it’s your turn to try the look. Stick on your pastel colored pencil skirt and a fun printed blouse. Before leaving your apartment, throw on your bomber jacket. This pairing makes for a great feminine to masculine contrast.
Vests also make a great layering piece for summer. One of my favorite vests of the season is the distressed denim vest. Many distressed denim vests are seen paired with lace dresses and skirts. However, I think for summer pair your denim vest with your go to maxi dress. Maxi dresses are simple and sweet. Pairing your denim vest over with bring a little edge to this look.
Lets not forget one of fashion’s favorite go to pieces, the tailored blazer. Yes this item has been worn for seasons past, but this truely is one of the most versatile pieces. But this summer transform the blazer from preppy to casual. While we all love to get dolled up in the summer, we need those days where we throw on our favorite jean shorts and a tee-shirt with our converse sneakers. Throw on a blazer with this look to go out and grab lunch in the city for a more stylish take on casual wear.
