The Bachelorette: Michael Allio Talks Drama and Joining The Show
Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette is more dramatic than ever! From giving Greg Grippo her first impression rose, to sending Cody home, and bonding with Michael A., Katie’s journey is just beginning.
Thanks to the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, here is the scoop from Michael Allio talking about his time on The Bachelorette!
Michael A. Talks Joining The Bachelorette
Michael Allio is quickly becoming a fan-favorite on Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette.
This single dad is from Akron, Ohio where he lives with his son James. Michael and Katie shared a spark since episode 1.
On his one on one date with Katie, he shares that he met his wife Laura in college. They fell in love and got married, but sadly it did not last.
Shortly after the birth of their son, Laura passed away from breast cancer. Michael tells Katie that after going through so much, he is willing and able to fall in love again.
Michael joins host Becca Kufrin and guest co-host Catherine Lowe on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.
Talking about his time on The Bachelorette Michael Allio says, “I never applied for this. It was never something I had in my plan whatsoever.” He clarifies, “Producers reached out to me.”
Catherina Lowe asks, “Did someone sign you up?” and Michael replies, “No, they reached out to me via Instagram.”
As for why he joined the show, Michael has a sweet answer. He says, “2019 was very difficult, 2020 was really difficult and it felt like a perfect time to, you know, better myself, take a risk, get outside of my box.”
Michael says he also wanted to, “Try to find some ways to grow and find love and find kind of that missing piece in my life that’s really so vital.
The Bachelorette Michael Allio On His Fellow Cast
Out of The Bachelorette contestants this season, Michael Allio is the oldest on the show. He says, “I’m 37 so I’m definitely like, the old dude on the show.” He adds, “But I will say our guys, the cast, they’re amazing.”
Reflecting on The Bachelorette experience with the guys, Michael says, “I wasn’t the only one kind of leading them, they were leading me.” He explains, “You need to be able to have that kind of support, it’s just a crazy experience.”
Mike Explains House Drama
Between Aaron and Cody butting heads and Karl stirring the pot, this season is full of drama! Laughing, Michael admits “I really didn’t understand the drama most of the time.”
Michael says, “At this point in my life, you really don’t need to create problems for yourself.” He clarifies, “Not that there weren’t significant issues that were brought up.”
Regarding the guys more involved in the drama, Michael says, “I think it’s easy to get caught up in the emotions of the moment.” He advises, “You got to see the larger picture, like, remember the reason why you’re there.”
Michael also says, “There’s a lot of emotions that go into it, and any sort of added level of emotion and negativity can have this rippling effect across the entire house and the entire experience.”
He continues, “So we’re not just reacting and responding to our own emotions and our own experience, but also have to take into account other peoples too including cast and also, most importantly, Katie.”
Katie’s bachelorette journey is far from over, but at this point things are looking up for her and Michael.
