The Bachelor’s Matt James Explains Kissing With His Eyes Open

Why Doesn’t Matt James Close His Eyes?
Matt James is a man with dreamy eyes, but that’s not what has Bachelor Nation fans talking! After locking lips with several women on The Bachelor, fans on social media are pointing out that for some reason Matt kisses with his eyes open. It just so happens that Matt finds this habit just as strange as the rest of us do!
On January 26th, James appeared on ACC Network’s In Play. So naturally, hosts Kelsey Riggs and EJ Manuel asked him about this strange quirk. James laughed and replied, “Dang, you all threw me under the bus, that’s crazy. I guess I didn’t realize I kiss with my eyes open until people were videotaping me kiss people, and I’m watching it back. I’m like, Yo, what are you doing?”
Matt Issues Apology
In spite of all of the attention his kissing receives on social media, Matt James is a good sport about it. James finds humor in the situation and even issued an apology. He said, “It was just as uncomfortable for me to watch as everybody else. So like, everyone is telling me, ‘You need to close your eyes!’ There’s gonna be a lot of this because this has already been filmed. I apologize to fans, but maybe I need to start wearing shades? If I were to do this again, I’d probably have an eye patch or something. It’s a learning experience.”
Matt’s Bachelor Nation friend Tyler Cameron even joked about James’ kissing on Twitter, posting a screenshot of the incident. Matt jokingly justified his smooching style by replying, “Gotta make sure no one sneaking up on us! When your eyes are closed.. ANYTHING can happen! It’s for both of our protection.”
So it seems that Bachelor Nation fans can look forward to seeing a lot more of Matt’s eyes. Whatever it takes for Matt to find his true love, we support it!
