The Scoop on Actress, Rebecca Metz
Rebecca Metz is best known for her roles as Tressa on FX’s Better Things, and Jenna on Disney Channel’s Coop & Cami Ask the World. She has also had many guest performances in shows such as Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, and This Is Us. However, reaching new heights of success didn’t come overnight. It all started with 17 years of working a typical 9:00-5:00 job
Before her acting career was in full swing, Rebecca was working full-time office jobs. She knew that being an actress wasn’t simply going to be handed to her. Hard work was necessary to get where she is today. Rebecca knew that this is what she wanted to do and didn’t give up on her dream.
“I worked full-time office jobs for 17 years while I was building all of those credits on all of those shows.”

“When I get something in my head that I really want to do– this was the life I wanted. And people close to me know that once I get something like that in my head I’m probably not going to stop.”

Getting to a point of loving the audition process
The audition process has been a huge part of Rebecca’s life. She is grateful for each opportunity. While not every audition resulted in a “yes”, some led to appearances on our favorite shows such as Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, and This Is Us. Rebecca also shares that she had to get to a point where she loved auditioning. When you reach this point, people in the room can really feel this from you.
“I had to get to a place where I loved auditioning. That’s most of your job, for at least the early part of your career. I had to find a way to love doing it, so that whether I got the job or not, I felt good about it.“

Differences and similarities between her two roles
Starring as Tressa in Better Things and Jenna in Coop & Cami Ask the World, these two shows are very different. Both shows include single, working mothers, but the characters have their own unique styles.
“It’s interesting because they are very different shows. Coop & Cami is a traditional sit-com setup and multi-camera. And Better Things is single camera. The processes are really different– like the schedules and the process of production are really different.”
Rebecca Metz
It is usually pretty easy for Rebecca to go back and forth between the two roles. The writing of the two shows are very different, and adding in hair and makeup always helps get in character.
“To some degree you have to just trust everything around you– like the writing is very different. Just saying those words, you’re going to be in a different place.“
