10 Thoughts Everyone Had Watching “Listen To Your Heart”

The newest extension of The Bachelor franchise, Listen To Your Heart, feels like Bachelor In Paradise meets American Idol. 20 hopefuls compete for love and musical fame in this brand new reality show. No one knew what to expect from this series when it was first announced but the first few episodes have left a big impression.

Bachelor: Listen To Your Heart

Here are 10 thoughts everyone had while watching Listen To Your Heart:

1. Jed should’ve been on this show

I know Chris Harrison claims the inspiration for the show was A Star Is Born, but it can’t be a coincidence that this show was literally made for Jed. Jed Wyatt won Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette only to reveal at the end that he was only on the show to boost his “music career.” Needless to say, their relationship ended on a rather dramatic note.

2. Trevor is literally Jed

It’s okay, Jed is on the show! Oh, wait, no that’s just Trevor. Trevor is Jed. Jed is Trevor. They have the same jacket. Case closed. I just hope they don’t have the same personality!

3. Bachelor In Paradise but with singing and new people

(ABC/Craig Sjodin) FRONT ROW: BEKAH, BRANDON, MICHAEL, CHEYENNE, TREVOR, JAMIE MIDDLE ROW: GABE, CHRISTOPHER, BRI, JOSH, SAVANNAH, RUSSELL, DANNY, RUDI BACK ROW: MATT, JULIA, RYAN, MEL, SHERIDAN, JACK

At the outset, I had absolutely no idea how this show would be run. I’ve since come to the conclusion that it’s basically another version of Bachelor In Paradise, except that all the contestants can sing and we’ve never met them before. While I’m salty that it isn’t Bachelor In Paradise, I’m nonetheless all in for this format of the franchise. I’m staying optimistic!

 4. Jamie says she doesn’t want drama

Starting off the show on a great note, Jamie explains in a confessional that she “doesn’t want any drama.” I hope she knows that she’s in for a wild ride because this is not the right franchise for her. In upcoming episodes, the Listen To Your Heart producers will do everything in their power to create drama. This drama will most likely be aimed at contestants like Jamie who claim not to want it.

5. Ryan is adorable

This kid Ryan is actually adorable. He looks like a combination of Shawn Mendes and John Mayer. I just want to give him a hug and protect him from all the craziness that is undoubtedly going to emerge as the season unfolds.

6. Matt is awful

THE BACHELOR PRESENTS: LISTEN TO YOUR HEART - Matt
(ABC/Maarten de Boer)

It’s only the first episode and Matt is off his rocker. After promising a date to Rudi, Matt then promptly turned around and asked Mel out instead. The women later called him out on it, and as a result Matt did not receive a rose from either woman. Although he somehow escaped elimination this time, I don’t think he will be voted most popular by anyone in Bachelor Nation.

7. This is cringe on another level

Listen to your heart is cringe-worthy

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to watch the show. But I know I will be feeling high levels of second-hand embarrassment for all of the contestants. The combination of uncomfortable flirting and forced musical interludes is sure to bring things to all-new levels of awkwardness.

8. The outfits are not up to par

Listen To Your Heart contestant outfits

Some (emphasis on some) of the outfits on Listen To Your Heart have actually been really cute. However, compared to the prom dresses the usual bachelor contestants wear, these outfits are not up to the same level. I can only compare it to Hollywood stars circa 2003 wearing jeans on the red carpet.

9. I don’t know who half these people are

I’m sorry Bachelor producers, but there are 20 contestants. I have watched this show for 2 hours and can only tell you maybe half of the contestants’ names. I think you should share the air time a little bit more considering the contestants are literally on the show to be seen.

10. Twitter must be having a field day

This show was literally made for Twitter. I’m not gonna lie, after the show I spend another two hours scrolling through Twitter actually laughing out loud. If these tweets aren’t proof that this show will provide great entertainment, then I don’t know what is.

Overall, I am definitely going to be continuing the series. However, I do not think I will be able to get through any segments without laughing, cringing, or checking my twitter feed. I am looking forward to listening to new music, taking in the eventual drama, and guessing the winner until it is announced.
