Tips for Having the Best First Hour of the Day

The first hour after you wake up is more important than you probably realize! The first hour sets the stage for the rest of your day. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed, prepare for either working harder than ever to change your mood or never get out of a bad mood at all! Your physical health and mental health can be affected by how you spend the first hour in the morning. Here are five tips on how to spend the first hour of your morning in order to have a successful day!

DRINK A GLASS OF WATER

Every expert’s answer to every problem seems to simply be “drink more water” or something such as that. The thing is though, is that it’s the truth. Water can improve everything drastically! Besides the obvious, water will help flush out your toxins and give your brain energy, essentially kick-starting it. Drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up and you’ll feel more awake a lot quicker!

DON’T HIT SNOOZE

Oh, that dreaded snooze button! I hate the sound of it every morning. The problem is that once you are awake, that extra hour of snoozing won’t help you. In fact, it’s a fake sleep that will only make you feel more exhausted when you finally decide to wake up! Figure out the best time to wake up in the morning for you and then wake up exactly when that alarm goes off! Power through and make yourself get out of bed! If you need to, put your alarm clock on the other side of the room… or even in another room close by if you have to!

OPEN THE BLINDS

It has been scientifically proven that sunlight improves a person’s mood. The first hour in the morning sets the tone for the entire day! Therefore, open up your blinds! Not only will the rising sun make you feel happy, but the light will also make it more difficult for you to feel sleepy. It’s a win/win!

STRETCH

Your muscles are tense when you wake up in the morning, even if you don’t feel achy or tight. You’ve been in the same position for hours, it only makes sense that your body would be like that! If you stretch, you’ll feel better and more relaxed. It’s a good way to destress before the start of your day! It’ll also help you later in the afternoon during the workday and you’ve been sitting at your desk for too long.

EAT BREAKFAST

I don’t care if it’s a donut or leftover pizza! People who skip breakfast become cranky a few hours after waking up. You wake up having not have eaten for twelve hours (more or less)! Enjoying a nice breakfast after waking up will also give you a sense of relaxation. So, put eating breakfast into your morning schedule because it’s worth it! They don’t call it “the most important meal of the day” for no reason!

Take these tips and apply it to your morning routine! Starting the morning on the right foot will change everything for you (for the better)!
