Balthazar changes history, making sure the Titanic didn’t sink. But Fate herself isn’t happy about this. Castiel ends up saving them from Fate and restores the timeline. Cas assures the brothers in this quote that he’s fighting for freedom over destiny.

Even though Dean doesn’t believe there is, Castiel tells him that there’s always hope. So, we as the audience believe there’s hope too.
