Making her reality television debut on Juan Pablo’s season of The Bachelor, Crawley has appeared on the franchise on four different occasions: one time on The Bachelor (2014), one time on The Bachelor Winter Games (2018), and two times on Bachelor in Paradise (2014 and 2015).
A 38-year-old from Sacramento, California, Crawley was an unexpected pick for Bachelorette. The franchise usually draws from the pool of women that were on the previous season of The Bachelor. Despite this not being the case here, she is an ideal and deserving candidate who will hopefully bring a breath of fresh air to the upcoming season. At 38 years old, Clare is the oldest Bachelorette in the series’ history. Consequently, she has more years of experience under her belt than previous stars. Clare’s age suggests that she truly is ready for marriage. She has had the time to learn what she wants and is really ready for the lifelong commitment. On Good Morning America, Clare stated that her older age simply means that she has “more years under my belt, more learning, knowing what I want and what I don’t want and what I won’t settle for.”
Mature Contestants
Clare’s age also suggests that the male contestants will likely be older too, fostering a more mature and sophisticated season. On Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, there were women “searching for marriage” in their early twenties. One woman was as young as 22 years old! Viewers felt that this fostered petty, childish conversations and confrontations. On top of that, the end goal of marriage felt silly and inappropriate with such young contestants. Older men will produce a more mature show and will make marriage feel more appropriate and realistic.

On Juan Pablo’s season of The Bachelor, Clare made it clear that she can, and will, speak her mind. In the dramatic season finale, she called Juan Pablo out for his wrongdoings. She did not let him get away with his poor treatment towards her, bluntly stating that she lost all respect for him. Clearly, Clare is not afraid to speak her mind.

After Juan Pablo expressed regret over their controversial night swim, Crawley refused to take the blame or be shamed into apologizing for something that was not her fault.
