Top 10 Reasons to See Dark Phoenix
Dark Phoenix comes out Friday, June 7, as a continuance of the X-Men Series. This heart-wrenching movie includes many aspects that are worth going to see. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or this will be your first X-Men movie, it’s pretty easy to follow along. The movie shows trials and tribulations of the X-Men in their earlier times guided by Charles Xavier (James McAvoy). It also displays Charles Xavier in a different way compared to the other movies in the series.
1. The Cast
Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence are all back. The three have already shined in the X-Men franchise, and this time, they are joined by Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain. Sophie Turner’s role is bigger this time around, which is perfect for Game of Thrones fans who are already feeling withdrawals from the show.
2. The Action
The fight scenes are a lot of fun. Each mutant has a chance to shine. We really get to see what they are fully capable of, whether they are fighting each other or fighting together against a new enemy.
3. The Origin of Jean Grey
In the previous movies, Jean Grey has always been kind of mysterious. This movie dives deeper into her past, which helps to better understand the character.
4. The Father-Daughter Dynamic
In addition to her origin, we also get to see where Jean and Professor X’s relationship began. The two have a father-daughter relationship, which makes what happens in the film even more impactful.
5. The Finale
Dark Phoenix marks the end of the X-Men franchise as we know it. Although the series will likely reappear in the future, this is the last film for the time being. It is worth seeing how the series is wrapped up.
6. The Family Dynamic
All of the members of the X-Men as well as other well-known mutants show dedication to one another. There is a slight tension between some during the movie, but they eventually understand one another’s importance in survival and life in general.
7. The Effects
Not only in the fight scenes, but also throughout the entire movie, the effects and CGI are amazing. The makeup for all of the actors looks insanely authentic, and their acting made it even more believable.
8. The Emotion
For those who have followed along the series since the beginning, there may be a few tears shed here and there because of this movie (I definitely began to tear up). The series loses a vital character who has been there since the beginning, so be weary.
9. The Devotion
Throughout most of the movie, Jean pushes Scott away so that she doesn’t hurt him. However, he never stops fighting for her and defending her case despite everything being against her. This devotion shows their everlasting love through all of their trials and tribulations.
10. The Intensity
This X-Men movie was a bit darker than most of the other ones. Their character for comedic relief, Quicksilver, was absent for the majority of the movie after a fight scene scuffed him up pretty bad. This made all of the darker moments seem even more grim as there was no one to release the tension throughout the movie.
