Us Again Mini-Review: A Heartwarming Story Through Dance
Being the first short film from this studio in nearly five years, Walt Disney Animation makes a triumphant return to short films with “Us Again.”
A Heartwarming Story Through Dance
In what director Zach Parrish calls a “fountain of youth” story, “Us Again” is about an elderly couple recapturing their youthful glory days. Without the use of words, “Us Again” tells a heartwarming and relatable story. Accomplished through excellent choreography mapped out by Keone and Mari Madrid, their dance moves convey a clear message while in sync with composer Pinar Toprak’s score.
Keone and Mari are choreographers that create dance sequences for various music videos and television shows. Marvel fans may know Toprak as the composer for “Captain Marvel.”
Beautiful Animation
As per usual from Disney, “Us Again” features beautiful animation. From the inside of an apartment to the streets of New York City, the world of this short film is vibrant and bursting with detail. It looks like a world reminiscent of today.
Through its storytelling, choreography, and animation, “Us Again” is a must-see short film with messages that will stay with the audience long after watching.
“Us Again” premieres exclusively in theatres alongside “Raya and the Last Dragon” on March 5th, 2021. The short film will be available to stream on Disney+ in June 2021.
