Valentine’s Day is all about spreading love—and what better way to do that than with homemade cookies?

Well, semi-homemade, because sometimes we just don’t have time to make cookie dough from scratch (and that’s totally okay!).

These Easy Valentine’s Day Heart Cookies are made with store-bought chocolate chip cookie dough, a little creativity, and lots of love.

They’re fun, festive, and perfect for sharing with your favorite people!

Ingredients

Checkered baking sheet with nine chocolate chip cookies topped with pink and purple heart-shaped sprinkles.

How to Make

Cookies with pink and white heart toppings on a pink and white checkered surface.

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper—not only does it prevent sticking, but it also makes cleanup so much easier!

Step 2: Place the Cookies & Add Sprinkles

Arrange the pre-cut chocolate chip cookie dough on the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave enough space for them to spread while baking.

Sprinkle the tops with heart-shaped sprinkles—this adds a cute Valentine’s touch with zero effort!

Step 3: Create Heart Cutouts

Take the extra sugar cookie dough and separate it into two portions. Dye one pink with a few drops of food coloring and leave the other one plain (white).

Roll out both doughs on a lightly floured surface and use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out adorable little hearts.

Step 4: Decorate & Bake

Gently place the pink and white cookie hearts on top of each chocolate chip cookie.

Press them down slightly so they stick.

Then, bake the cookies according to the package instructions (usually 10-12 minutes), or until the edges are golden and the centers are still slightly soft.

Step 5: Cool & Enjoy

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

This helps them set while still keeping the centers nice and chewy. Now, try not to eat them all at once!

💖 Want even more color? Use red or pink chocolate chips in the dough for extra Valentine’s flair.
💖 No heart-shaped cookie cutter? Use a small knife to carefully cut out heart shapes—imperfections make them even more charming!
💖 Chill the dough if it’s too soft. If your cookie hearts are tricky to handle, pop the dough in the fridge for 10-15 minutes before cutting them out.
💖 Make them extra festive! Drizzle some melted white or pink chocolate on top after baking.
