Tips For Before Lip Fillers:

Before botox injections you should avoid everything on the following list for the best results.

1. Do not take or plan for use of aspirin, over the counter medications, herbal supplements, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, ginko biloba, fish oil supplements, flax oil, cod liver oil, or any prescription blood thinners 7-10 days before. You should also avoid natural supplements, essential fatty acids, and St. John’s Wort.

2. Do not drink alcoholic beverages or caffeine before your appointment. Both of these can make you dehydrated, which is not good for your lips! Instead drink plenty of water.

3. Do not smoke before your appointment. Smoking causes the blood vessels in your lips to constrict, which will make the filler less effective.

4. Do not eat anything greasy or fatty before your appointment. This will make your lips swell up at the treated area, which is not what you want! 

5. Do not wear lipstick or other makeup before your appointment for a clean face. This can interfere with the placement of the filler.

6. Do not do strenuous exercise on facial muscles before your appointment or do hot yoga or sit in hot tubs. This can also cause your lips to swell up.

After Your Appointment:

If swelling is persistent add an ice pack for 10 minutes to reduce inflammation. Cold compresses work better than intense heat. High temperatures and a lot of pressure can increase blood flow and blood pressure causing more swelling. You also want to keep your heart rate down.
