Weather to Expect in May
Now that the winter months and cooler temperatures are behind us, central Florida will be filled with hot days. Florida weather is known to be pretty decent year round, you can normally expect warm days. It’s an important thing to always continually check weather forecasts, you never know when weather conditions might change. The best option is to be prepared when it comes to the weather.
The average temperatures for Orlando, Florida in May are getting pretty warm. The high temperatures are increasing and the hot days are here. The average high is 88 degrees fahrenheit. This means a long day in the warm weather is sure to tire you and your family member out. The average low is 69 degrees fahrenheit. The temperature drops won’t be anything too crazy, but bringing a light jacket is a good idea.
Hurricane season is creeping up as we move into the summer months. The beginning of hurricane season starts in June and goes until November. The month of May starts out not seeing too many rainy days. It averages 2.2 inches at the beginning of the month. However, the rain average increases as the end of the month approaches. Pack a small umbrella or rain poncho just in case and your Disney vacation will still be a great time!
While May is filled with sunny days, this month also tends to be a little windier than others. This will help keep low humidity. On average, the humidity is highest during the morning hours at around 90 percent. By early afternoon, the humidity will have dropped. If humidity is not your thing, no need to worry. There’s plenty of indoor areas with air conditioning for you to cool off in.
Remember to check the weather forecast before your vacation!
Planning Your Trip
As you head to any and all amusement parks, there’s plenty of factors to consider and remember in addition to what to wear to Disney world in May. COVID-19 is a current pandemic that everyone should be aware of and stay up to date on.
A number of safety measures have been put in place at Disney theme parks in order to keep the magical place as safe as possible for the guests. The approach to combating the pandemic has been done safely and gradually. Any changes and improvements will be continually updated on their website.
The current procedures include masks required at indoors facilities, tracking and managing of park attendance and continuous cleaning and sanitizing of the parks. It may seem like common sense, but if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms do not enter Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney Parks are filled with your favorite cast members, roller coasters, water rides, snacks and more. This means the parks can experience long lines and large crowd levels. Good news is that there is a Disney World Crowd Calendar.
The calendar helps to monitor and pay attention to the crowd levels of the parks. If you want to go at a less busy time or see what areas are less busy, this is a perfect tool. The information provided by Disney World Crowd Calendar is found by monitoring the number of tickets bought, events being held and other potential factors.
The Crowd Calendar will make exploring the parks much easier. It’ll make sure you get to ride all the rides, meet the characters and see sites you want!
Other Factors to Consider
Although the Magic Kingdom is one of the happiest places on earth, your Disney trip is going to come at a price. Speaking from personal experiences, everything at Disney including getting there can add up pretty quickly. Your best bet may be to look into the different special offers, deals and discounts that are available.
Obviously, everyone would want to go to Disney World for a discounted price! Certain banks offer credit cards with different saving and reward options. U.S. Military members are offered deals and discounted rates.
Disney Passholders receive perks on different experiences at the parks. There’s never a bad time of the year for saving, find out more about special offers!
It’s time to decide if you are interested in visiting the different water parks Disney has to offer. There are some water rides located in parks, such as Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids, but the water parks are filled with pools and fun water sport activities. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon’s Lagoon are the two water park options.
Make sure you pack your bathing suit, flip flops, towels and sunscreen for a good time! Continue to look out for any updates regarding the water parks before your trip. Updates on the water parks continue to be released due to COVID-19 and safety measures.
Disney Activities
Disney World is widely known for its fun snacks and unique dining experiences. There are countless different food stands, restaurants and options to choose from. Dining at Disney is an experience in itself.
You can taste different foods from multiple different cultures or even find Disney-themed meals and snacks! However, sometimes waiting for food is not the most fun thing on the agenda.
This is why Disney has created dining plans. You are able to make reservations at certain restaurants up to 60 days in advance before your visit. Plan on your meals ahead of time so you don’t have to waste time waiting in lines.
It’ll help make sure you get the food you want, great customer service and get to continue exploring the parks as time efficiently as possible.
Special Events
Obviously, we can’t forget about the special events Disney has! We have moved past the scary Halloween party and Mickey’s Christmas party, but there’s still plenty to look forward to. It’s a personal preference if you want to attend the special events. They are filled with fun activities, but they also can get crowded.
During the month of May there are a few different things planned. Epcot hosts the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Epcot is filled with gorgeous gardens and exhibits at this time. There are a variety of outdoor kitchens for you and your family to try out. Of course there is live entertainment and fun for all ages!
It’s a great option to check out to kick off spring and summer. There is fun in the other parks too! Party on the parade streets at Magic Kingdom, run through Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and celebrate nature at Animal Kingdom.
See if there are any extra magic hours to attend at the end of the day. Extra magic hours allow the excitement to continue after regular park hours!
Come join the Disney World crew for a weekend of enchantment on Memorial Day weekend! It’s the best way to enjoy the holiday.
