What Is Beeswax Body Butter?
Making body butter with beeswax is one of the best things you can do for your skin.
Beeswax is the main ingredient in body butter. It helps to lock in moisture while providing a protective barrier on the skin.
It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness and irritation.
Body butter also contains other natural ingredients such as cocoa butter, essential oils, and carrier oils. Which make it an excellent choice for all types of skin care products.
You can even customize body butters by adding different scents or colors to create a unique product tailored just for you!
Difference Between Body Butter And Lotion?
While body lotions are generally lighter in texture and provide more of a moisture boost, body butters are typically much thicker and more emollient.
They tend to be made with more nourishing ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, and beeswax.
Which help to deeply moisturize the skin and protect it from dryness and other environmental factors.
Whether you have rough skin or normal skin, body butters can be a great addition to your skincare routine for soft, hydrated skin all year round!

How Much Does This Recipe Make?
This shea body butter recipe makes enough to fill a 4-ounce jar. It can easily be doubled or tripled if needed.
Beauty products like this can be made in small batches so that you always have fresh, natural body butter on hand.
You can even make enough homemade whipped body butter for a half-pint jar, and give it as a gift to family or friends!
How Does it Harden?
The body butter hardens due to the beeswax, which acts as a natural emulsifier. It helps to bind together the other ingredients in the body butter and prevents them from separating over time.
Additionally, the body butter will continue to set and firm up once it is completely cool, so be sure to allow it enough time to solidify before using it.
It won’t take a long time but if you get a hard butter, the body butter will still be effective.
To soften it again, simply microwave it or place the body butter jar in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes and then stir well until it is light and fluffy again.
If needed, you can also re-melt the body butter and whisk it again to help soften up any hardened bits.
How to Store it
To store your body butter, we recommended keeping it in an airtight container at room temperature.
This will help to extend its shelf life and prevent it from drying out or becoming clumpy over time.
You may also want to keep the body butter in a cool place, without direct sunlight to minimize the risk of any potential oxidation or rancidity.
How Long Does it Last?
Depending on the ingredients that you use, your body butter should typically last for at least 1 month when stored properly.
You may want to keep an eye on it and see if any changes in color or consistency occur over time.
If you notice any signs of spoilage, such as a funky odor or mold growth, be sure to discard the body butter immediately to prevent any potential skin irritation or infections.
Otherwise, you can enjoy your body butter as a luxurious and nourishing treat for your skin!

Aloha! I was just in the middle of editing and writing out a (rather long winded) comment when something went wrong and I lost it. So I’ll keep this one short. I noticed in this recipe, that you have emulsifying wax listed as optional. Do you think it could help keep the whipper body butter’s consistency at that beautiful, luxurious icing like texture? I just realized I have some and really want to use it in my next batch but I’m not sure how much to use in it. Any advice or additional information you could provide would be greatly appreciated! I just signed up for your newsletter, too. Thanks in advance!
I don’t see how you can have a combined ingredient list of over 12 ounces of ingredients, but it only makes a 4 oz jar? What would the purpose of emulsifying wax be in this recipe? Emulsifying wax is for oil and water to stay mixed together.
