Why I Donate to Goodwill + Enter to Win Kansas City Baseball Tickets

Now that Summer has hit, it is time to go through those summer clothes and think about getting rid of the ones that no longer fit. While you’re at, take a look at the rest of your items! You might be surprised by all the stuff you have been saving over the years but never really use. Do you need all those dishes you’ve been saving since college? Do you still need that oversized sweater you’ve only worn once? What about the millions of paperback books just taking up space on your shelf? Before, you may have thought you should just throw this stuff away but why not donate it to Goodwill? Here are some reasons #WhyIDonate to Goodwill.

Donating to Goodwill is super easy because they have several great locations all over the Kansas City area.  All you have to do is pack up your stuff and drop it off! Someone will be eagerly waiting for you to arrive and they will even help you unload your car. Goodwill is also open later than most places so, if you work during the day, you can stop by after. Most locations are open until 9 p.m. You don’t have to wait for a certain day of the month for pick-up or set your stuff outside on the curb. Just pack up and drop off! Easy, right?

I also enjoy donating to Goodwill because it allows me to clean out my home and I know my stuff is going to a great cause. Donations to Goodwill provide budget-friendly shopping options to members of the community. Also, sales of those donations help fund programs and services for local individuals. These programs help people get on the right track to improving their lives by working. Goodwill cares for the people of the community and they want to help by providing work experience and training.

While the donations help provide training programs, all of the money earned also stays within the community. I like donating to a cause where I know all the money is staying local. Knowing that a few of my unwanted items can extend to help in any amount keeps me coming back to Goodwill.

Goodwill also helps me when I’m cleaning out by accepting a multitude of items. Whether I have clothes, books, old CDs or even furniture, Goodwill is my go to. Rather than having your items end up being a waste, Goodwill accepts them and provides them for others. I love knowing that my stuff is going to a good place with great workers, rather than a trash dump. Like their website says, “Goodwill. Good goes further.”

The next time you find yourself cleaning out your closet, think of your stuff and how you want to handle it. Donate to Goodwill! Help yourself while helping the community. You can clean out the clutter of your home, easily drop off your items at a Goodwill location and know your items are headed to a fantastic cause. Every item helps, big or small. Why do I donate? Because Goodwill is easy to work with, provides for the community and keeps the donations local.
