Tips for Avoiding the Freshman 15
Looking for a way to keep the pounds away during the upcoming semester? Here are a few things you can do right in your dorm room.
Cardio: A cardiovascular workout can be completed almost anywhere. You can try marching or jogging in place, jumping jacks, squats, punches, side kicks or any other type of kickboxing move. There are also plenty of Zumba videos online. Make a playlist of your favorite workouts–it’s like having your own personal class right in your room! Just put on your favorite leggings, sports bra, top, roll out a yoga mat and get to work!
Strength Training: Using a set of hand weights can prove to be extremely beneficial. You can do a number of simple exercises in order to build muscle and keep the weight gain down. You might even try combining cardio and strength to get the most out of your workout. Punching with small free-weights gives your arms a good workout, as does squatting and arm raises.
Local University Gym: Most Universities have a local gym or workout area to help people stay in shape. Although you may be a busy college student, just stop by the local gym for 30 minutes and focus on staying toned!
These are simple but effective ways to keep the dreaded Freshman 15 from hitting your mid-section. You can try any of these things or do some research to find something that you’ll stick with and enjoy doing.
I struggled with this so much. It turned into the freshman 40 for me. Stay strong ladies.
