YouTube Videos that will Bring You Nostalgia
YouTube has become a hub of videos specialized for different interests and ages, making entertainment accessible for many. In recent years we have seen the rise of beauty gurus, comedians, and even kids unwrapping toys gain millions of views.
Lately, the YouTube community has stirred up quite a bit of drama that makes me want to return to a simpler time. A time in which everyone could bond over a viral video and spend our time quoting it endlessly. So why not return to that time? Some videos you’ve probably forgotten and others you may still be referencing today. Here are some classic YouTube videos to bring you nostalgia.
Charlie the Unicorn
This story about a grumpy unicorn and his not so innocent friends spawned three sequels. Each one also has extremely catchy songs. I’m embarrassed to say I made one of the songs my ringtone in middle school.
Potter Puppet Pals: Mysterious Ticking Noise
It was 2007 and Harry Potter was at its’ peak, life was good. The release of Potter Puppet Pals managed to make non-Potter fans laugh. The video has 192 million views and fans of the franchise were not shy about singing the tune.
Miss Teen USA 2007 – South Carolina answers a question
When attempting to answer why she thinks 1/5 of Americans can’t locate the U.S. on the map, Miss South Carolina talks herself into a hole, her nerves obviously getting the best of her. She somehow manages to bring up both Iraq and South Africa in her answer. I’m almost impressed by how far off base this response is.
The Shooting AKA Dear Sister / Lonely Island in General
There are a ton of Andy Samberg’s digital shorts that I find hilarious (Lazy Sunday being high on that list). But nothing ranks quite as high for as “The Shooting”. This SNL sketch makes fun of the ridiculous finale from the O.C. using the Jason Derulo classic “Whatcha Say”. After each viewing, the absurd premise still gets me.
I’m combining this with the works of Lonely Island because they walked so the SNL Digital short could run.

If you were saying “Chaarliee” in an over-the-top British accent after watching this, did you actually watch this famous video?
The Apparently Kid
Apparently, this kid was a guest on Ellen after this. And apparently, this video of Noah Ritter still makes me laugh.

This video of a young boy stumbling over his words and creating an incoherent sentence honestly speaks to me on a different level. And to answer his question: yes.
Never Gonna Give You Up- Rickrolling
I think almost all of us have the memory of scrolling through YouTube, clicking on an interesting title and then being instead directed to this bop of a song by Rick Astley. The prank began when YouTube pulled an April’s Fool joke and redirected everyone who clicked on a video on their home page to this music video.
Sneezing Panda
I have such distinct memories of everyone’s mother wanting to share this video with every person they saw. This set the bar for the animal videos on Youtube that were to come.
The Duck Song
Who would have thought that a song about an infuriating duck would generate 436 million views? I am so sorry for reminding you of this song, because it will definitely get stuck in your head.

Remember when I said the duck song would get stuck in your head? Well, this one is actually scientifically proven by me to stay in your head days after listening. The fact that years later I will sometimes sing to myself “Partying, partying, yeah” demonstrates that this song has way too much power.
Rebecca Black has her own channel and is a great sport about her past. She even has new singles that show her growth and true talent!
Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift
A moment that will go down in our pop culture history books. When Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech to say “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” we had no idea the storm that would be coming in years to come.
